For those following my Instagram account, you may have seen that I packed my pica pole and headed south to St. Louis for the Amalgamated Printer’s Association’s Wayzgoose back in June. The Firecracker Press and Central Print were great hosts and I had a blast catching up with old and new printer friends.

I took a workshop on specialty techniques including embossing, foil stamping, and die-cutting. I already do a bit of embossing and foil stamping at the studio, but die-cutting was a fun new technique I’m hoping to include in the near future.
There were lectures from Esther K. Smith from Purgatory Pie Press and sneak peeks at Pressing On: the Letterpress Film.
We also were able to tour Central Print and Firecracker Press (one of their locations pictured above), along with a few shops around St. Louis including this beauty at Red Roses Press (pictured below).
We also stopped at the City Museum for a bit of fun and to check out their wall of old letterpress advertising cuts.
Overall it was a fantastic time in St. Louis and I’m already hoping to head to the next APA Wayzgoose next year.
