It’s been awhile since the blog has had a post, so it is high time to dust her off! The past six months have been amazing, but crazy. We left off right before John and I got married in October. It was fantastic and I hope to share a peek at the paper goods soon.
The day after we got back from our honeymoon, the new lease started on the space in Mount Vernon. We got most everything moved in October and while I was setting up the new studio, John started a new job too, which meant a lot of late nights for the both of us.
In December we decided we didn’t have enough fun moving the studio, so we went ahead and bought our first house together. We moved in February and are still working on making it our home.
Now that things are a bit more settled, I’m looking forward to working on some of my bigger goals for Iron Leaf Press. There is a greater retail presence with this new space, so I’ve not only been trying to add lots of new ILP goodies, I’ve also had the opportunity to add some of my favorite makers into the retail mix. We’ve got jewelry from the talented gals at Made Community out of Iowa City and fun party/packaging supplies from Knot and Bow. And just delivered this week are beautiful ring dishes and vessels from Briggs Shore Ceramics, handcrafted in Cedar Rapids. These small businesses are a lot like mine and I love the opportunity to bring their beautiful work to my little shop.
Stop by the studio and see the new goodies.

Wishing you a happy holiday this season! I’m so grateful for all the followers, clients, customers, and supporters this year. The end of 2014 wraps up my first year working full-time at Iron Leaf Press and I couldn’t have done it without you all. Thank you.
From December 20th-January 2nd, the studio will be closed to celebrate with friends and family, along with working on some big plans for 2015. Can’t wait to see what the new year will bring!
I can hardly believe its been over a year ago that Iron Leaf Press moved into the Project Bright Idea building in Lisbon (the photo above is from the Grand Opening)! When I started looking for a studio space a year and half ago, I wasn’t quite sure where business would take me. Now, a year later, here’s a bit of a recap on the milestones of the year:
1. Iron Leaf Press’s Grand Opening was last June, and the business continued to grow throughout 2013. I was able to make the leap to being in the studio full-time by January 2014. While I won’t say its been easy (or without tears at times), it has been an exciting time to wake up everyday and do things I love everyday.
2. Iron Leaf Press won it’s second American Advertising Award this past February. Awards aren’t everything in business, but this particular one has a special place in my heart. The awards are selected by industry peers and make me feel proud to be providing quality design and printing for my clients. (see the award-winning projects here and here)
3. Iron Leaf Press greeting cards and paper goods are available at five retailers around the state of Iowa. I love each and every one of our retailers and I hope this number grows over the next year (know of a great store that would be a good fit? Let me know with the form here). I’m nearly wrapped up with the new wholesale catalog and can’t wait to share!
4. The final milestone has been meeting and becoming friends with so many clients, industry peers, and mentors. I couldn’t be here without you and I want to thank each and every one of you for helping my business grow. Thank you! Here’s to year two!
Last Saturday we had our Spring Open House at the studio. The studio is usually closed Saturdays, but we love doing seasonal events and give everyone a chance to visit!
We partnered with our friends at Candle Barn Candles and Bare Root Designs for this event. We had a small selection of each of their goods. For those that missed their awesome goodies, Bare Root Designs just happens to be having a Facebook sale this Friday. Candle Barn Candles are often at NewBo City Market as well.
We also had a few new spring goodies in the shop of our own. We’re also gearing up for the Lucky Star Market at the end of April as well, so lots of new items to come!
We’ve also had the foil stamper busy these last few weeks. New for spring, monograms in gold foil on 100% cotton paper are available in the studio or by custom order. They make great gifts for bridesmaids, newlyweds or mother’s day!
Thanks so much to all who came to visit this weekend! Can’t tell you how much it means to see all of you support Iron Leaf Press!
