The Blackwing 223 celebrates Woody Guthrie and his immutable optimism. Each set comes with 12 pencils with a design inspired by This Land’s “ribbon of highway,” “endless skyway” and “golden valley.”. Each pencil features a matte black ferrule, earth-toned eraser, black imprint, and balanced graphite. The number 223 is a nod to February 23, 1940, when Woody Guthrie scribbled “All you can write is what you see” at the bottom of a lyric.
