• Slowly Reopening

    Last Updated: December 2, 2020

We are slowly reopening our physical storefront to foot traffic. Our temporary hours will be Thursday 10am-5pm, Friday 10am-3pm, and Saturday 11am-3pm. We ask that you wear a mask when you visit us in person per city mask mandate. We also have hand sanitizer available for all customers. Other days/times are available by appointment.

Our online shop continues to ship out orders as normal. We also offer in-store pick-up and local delivery for online orders. Thank you for your support during this trying time!

  • Covid-19 Update

With the spread of Covid-19 throughout the US, we’ve been doing our best to keep ourselves and our customers safe. Our retail storefront will be closed for the time being until it is safe for staff and customers to return. We will be working remote and stopping in the shop to ship out orders as needed.

Our web store is always open and we now have a free shipping code through the end of May. Use the code WASHYOURHANDS at checkout for free shipping. This applies to both retail and wholesale orders. We are maintaining the highest level of cleanliness while packing up orders.

If you are a Mount Vernon or Lisbon resident, we are offering free delivery at this time as well. We will drop off your package right at your front door.

Please stay safe, remember your neighbors and your favorite neighborhood shops, and wash your hands. All the best!

  • The Iron Leaf Press Team is Expanding

If you’ve been following along our social media channels the past few months, you may have seen we made a little announcement! Our shopkeep, Danielle, and Mr. ILP are expecting a little girl early this August! We’re very, very excited about our new addition.

With her arrival, I’ll be taking a bit of time off during the month of August. The storefront will remain open every Saturday in August, from 11AM-3PM, but will be closed during the week.

The online shop will remain open and we plan on shipping out all stocked items as normal. Any custom letterpress or embossing orders placed during the month of August will resume in September as we can get back to the press. Custom address stamps and embossers should ship out within normal time frames. Any changes/updates for shipping turnaround times are posted as always on our Turn Around Time page.

We appreciate all your patience as we navigate this new chapter in our personal lives and work on training our new girl as part of the family business (and hoping she sleeps through the night!).

  • Iron Leaf Press featured on KCRG during “Our Town” Special

A few weeks back, we chatted with Bruce Aune from KCRG about our little shop here in Mount Vernon during their week-long “Our Town” feature. We set up a little type and had the press running. Check out the feature below or on KCRG’s website!

  • Joanna Gaines Stationery by Iron Leaf Press Our Stationery Featured in Magnolia Journal

Joanna Gaines Stationery Printed by Iron Leaf Press

One of our personal stationery styles was featured in the Winter 2018 Magnolia Journal magazine! You can find us right on page 24 as a part of their holiday gift guide.

Many asked how we came to be featured. It’s still a bit of a mystery to us here. This style has been a part of our shop for a number of years. In early fall of 2018 we received an order that had a bit of a recognizable name, and it just happened to be shipping to Waco, Texas. We figured maybe it was just a gift and tried not to get too excited. We didn’t know it was going to be published in the Magnolia Journal until another stationer gave us the heads up when the magazine came out. Needless to say, we went out right away to grab a copy!

If you’d like to get your own set of stationery just like Joanna, check out this style here. Plus we’ve got lots of other fun styles available too.

  • Steamroll Printing 2018

Old Threshers Reunion is held annually on Labor Day weekend in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. The Threshers grounds house lots of steam engines, machinery, and printing equipment from years ago. Printers Hall is one of the buildings on the grounds and it houses all of the old printing equipment, with many examples of printing presses similar to the ones we use at Iron Leaf Press.

Last year I did a steamroll print during Printers Fair in Mt. Pleasant and the group asked if I’d be interested in participating again. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to print on such a large scale, so I set out to work on my 2′ x 3′ piece. I carved my design into a piece of linoleum and brought it on down to Mount Pleasant the Friday before Labor Day. Continue Reading

  • We Won! Iron Leaf Press is a Louie Award Winner

When we last posted, one of our cards was a finalist at the 2018 National Louie Awards held at the end of May. A few months have passed and we’re proud to announce that we won our category! Our “cat parent” holiday card won the “Christmas/Seasonal Humorous Above $4.00” category. We weren’t able to make it to New York for the awards ceremony, but this piece of hardware showed up at the shop! Glass is very hard to photograph!

Even though it’s July, we’re already starting to print new holiday designs and reprint some of our classics. If you want to get a jump on holiday cards, check out all our designs here.

  • We’re a Louie’s Finalist!

We’ve been slinging our letterpress cards for going on 6 years now (can you believe it?!?). In those 6 years we’ve made a lot of cards and have sent them all over the world. And now we’ve got one that’s up for a major award. And it’s fitting to use A Christmas Story reference since it’s one of our holiday cards that is a finalist for the Louie Awards!

The Louie Awards are hosted by the Greeting Card Association (yes, that’s a thing) and has been showcasing the best in the stationery industry for nearly 30 years. Our “cat parent” card is one of three finalists for the “Christmas/Seasonal Humorous Above $4.00” category. And it was one of our best selling holiday cards this last year, which proves that cats are definitely better than dogs (I kid, I kid….mostly).

The winners will be announced this May and we’re hoping to make it out to New York for the celebration. And if you want to get a head start on your holiday shopping now, we’ve got the card in our online shop. And for all you dog parent’s out there, don’t worry. We’ve got a dog version too.
